Our contract with our last server, GoDaddy, expired. The person who owned the contract rights had moved on from our Guild. He generously offered us the contract, but to re-open the website with former files restored was going to cost well over $125 in real-life money. So, we moved on, and with many offers of help (and Anton, we may yet take you up on your kind offer) we reconstructed all the missing stories and articles. And added a lot more. The Chronicles is created by members of Chaos Theory who volunteer one of the most precious things in this world: outside of their wit, knowledge and expertise, they give generously of their time. In in-kind donation of services, I would estimate that, altogether, these members gave a total of 700 hours of work, valued at the current going rate, close to $12,000.
You know, we’re not just here to run dungeons, conquer the Coil and shatter the Crystal Tower. We’re here to have fun, yes, but you chose us, and we chose you, so we can have fun with each other. We’re not just gamers, we’re a community, a family. Because most of us have busy lives, it’s nice to know that Chaos Theory is here for you, so you can escape to Eorzea. But as we lend you a hand, we also ask for you to help us be active, responsive to new patches; to run or help organize social events, or to write for the newsletter, or simply post your thoughts and ideas on our website’s forums.
I have plans for the Chaos Theory Chronicle’s future – a daily media/video blog, to start. What are your plans, your Final Fantasy dreams that Chaos Theory can help you grind towards?
Yours in Chaos, Robotrek
